What is Mapbox and what is it used for?
Mapbox is a maps and location services platform, with APIs and SDKs to embed custom maps, address search, routing and navigation in web and mobile applications.
On the visual side, Mapbox GL JS renders interactive maps on the web, and the Maps SDKs for iOS and Android do the same in apps. Mapbox Studio is used to create custom map styles.
On the location data side there is the Geocoding API, which converts addresses to coordinates and back, the Search Box API for points of interest such as restaurants and gas stations, and the routing APIs: Directions, Isochrone, Map Matching and Matrix. The Navigation SDKs deliver turn-by-turn navigation with real-time traffic on iOS and Android.
The audience is development teams building geographic applications, who combine map, search and routing from one vendor instead of integrating separate services.
