What is Metabase and what is it used for?
Metabase is an open source data analytics platform that connects databases, lets people query through a visual interface or SQL, and shares charts and dashboards across the company.
Anyone on the team can ask a question about the data in the visual query builder without writing code, and analysts use the SQL editor. Saved questions can be grouped into dashboards and shared with authorized people and teams.
Metabase connects more than 20 data sources, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks, MongoDB and ClickHouse, in every edition. Charts and dashboards can also be embedded in other products.
There is the open source edition, free to self-host, and Metabase Cloud, with paid plans. Analytics and business operations teams are the main audience.
