What is Hugging Face and what is it used for?
Hugging Face is a platform where developers and companies find, publish and run AI models, datasets and demo applications in versioned repositories called the Hub. It serves anyone building products with machine learning who does not want to train everything from scratch.
The repositories hold models of different modalities, with versions and documentation, and datasets for experiments. The company maintains libraries such as Transformers and Diffusers, used to build AI solutions, and Spaces, which publishes demos with an interface for trying a model in the browser.
To put a model into use there are inference services: Inference Endpoints charges per hardware instance and Inference Providers has its own pricing page.
Basic access is free. Paid plans add private storage, more Spaces on shared GPUs and features for teams and organizations. The audience is developers and AI teams that need a place to version and serve models.
