What is Zendesk and what is it used for?
Zendesk is a customer service platform that brings tickets, messaging, live chat, a help center and voice into one workspace for the support team, with AI agents that answer part of the requests.
The core of the product is the ticket: each request, whether it comes from email, chat, messaging or phone, becomes a record with an owner, context and history. Zendesk Suite joins those channels in one dashboard for the agent and includes prebuilt reporting dashboards on every plan.
The help center publishes articles and a request portal for self-service, and can include a community forum. Macros and triggers automate repetitive tasks, and omnichannel routing distributes requests among agents.
AI agents talk to the customer over messaging, email and voice, and Zendesk charges per automated resolution. There is also a paid add-on, Copilot, for intelligent triage and writing tools.
Who uses it: support and customer experience teams that need a history per request and several channels in one place.
