What is Clay and what is it used for?
Clay is a business data research and enrichment platform for B2B prospecting teams, which connects many data providers and an AI research agent into tables.
The team builds a table of contacts or companies and adds columns that look up information: email, phone, job title, technologies used, news. Each column can query a data provider or ask the research agent, Claygent, which reads public websites and returns the result in structured fields.
The differentiator is waterfall enrichment: Clay queries one provider, and if it does not find the data, moves on to the next. The vendor cites more than 150 connected providers.
The data can then flow to the team's CRM. Clay lists native connections with HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive and Close, among others.
The output is a base for segmenting lists and preparing sales messages. AI-generated content should be reviewed before use, and privacy and contact rules still apply.
